Most harassment happens in front of someone. A colleague hears the comment. A team member sees the client go too far. Most people say nothing, not because they don't care, but because they don't know what to do. We change that.
Since 30 October 2026, employers must take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment, and can be liable when clients, contractors or the public harass staff.
Leading employment law firms now recommend bystander intervention training as one of the practical steps employers should take, especially where staff deal with third parties.
A team that knows how to step in stops behaviour early, before it becomes a complaint, a resignation or a claim.
We use the 5 Ds, a simple, proven way to step in safely:
1. Distract. Interrupt the moment without confronting anyone.
2. Delegate. Bring in a manager, security or someone better placed.
3. Document. Note what happened, safely, to support the person later.
4. Delay. Check in with the person afterwards and offer support.
5. Direct. Speak up, when it is safe to do so.
Staff practise each one with real scenarios from their own work, including situations involving clients and the public.
Client meetings, site visits and events in professional services.
Housing and charity teams working with tenants and the public.
Contractors and engineers on other people's sites.
Tech and support teams on customer calls.
Work socials and conferences where alcohol is served.
Live, interactive workshops at your offices anywhere in the UK, or on Teams. We tailor every session to your sector and the situations your people actually face.
We are a training consultancy for people, culture and risk. Our past work includes Lloyds Banking Group and the Met Police.
We don't read the law at your staff. We help them understand it, recognise it and act on it.
Will this put our staff at risk?
No. Safety comes first. Four of the five Ds involve no direct confrontation at all.
Can this run alongside our other harassment training?
Yes. It works best alongside staff and manager training, as part of showing you took all reasonable steps.
