The Worker Protection Act gave every employer a duty to prevent sexual harassment. On 30 October 2026, that duty got tougher. If your training was built for the 2024 rules, it is already out of date.
Duty to prevent sexual harassment: reasonable steps from October 2024 under the Worker Protection Act. All reasonable steps from 30 October 2026 under the Employment Rights Act 2025.
Harassment by clients and the public: employers are now liable for any protected characteristic, from a single incident.
Time to bring a tribunal claim: six months from 1 October 2026, up from three.
Compensation: awards can rise by up to 25% if the duty is breached.
The bar has gone up. Employers who did a single round of training in 2024 now need to show more.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission sets out eight steps. Training sits at the heart of them:
Train all workers, with extra training for managers.
Refresh the training regularly, not once.
Assess the risk, including from clients, contractors and the public.
Have clear reporting routes and act quickly on complaints.
We help you deliver the training and show the evidence.
For all staff: what sexual harassment is, where the line sits, how to report it, and how to step in safely.
For managers: how to respond in the first hour, record it properly, handle complaints about clients, and prevent victimisation.
For boards and senior leaders: a briefing on the duty, the risk the organisation now carries, and what the board must see to be confident.
Third party harassment risk assessment: a written action plan showing where your staff are exposed and what you are doing about it.
Every session is live, built around your sector, and delivered at your offices anywhere in the UK or on Teams.
Professional services firms, tech companies, housing providers, charities and contractors. Anywhere staff face clients, customers or the public.
We are a training consultancy for people, culture and risk. Our past work includes Lloyds Banking Group and the Met Police.
We don't read the law at your staff. We help them understand it, recognise it and act on it.
We trained everyone in 2024. Do we need to do it again?
Very likely. The duty is now all reasonable steps and covers third parties more widely. The guidance also expects training to be refreshed regularly.
Is this legal advice?
No. We are not a law firm. We train your people and help you build the evidence that you took every reasonable step.
Book a free 20 minute call. We will tell you plainly whether your current training meets the new duty, and what to do first.
